THE LONG PADDLE 2025
NONSTOP EDITION

193 MILES * NO SLEEP * NO STOPS
NO KIDDING!
A RITE OF PASSAGE WITH A PURPOSE…
THE MISSION
On July 24th, the Neuse River becomes the proving ground once again—but this time, it’s personal.
Founder Allen Williford has made it a rite of passage for his kids: take on the full 193-mile Neuse River paddle or the Appalachian Trail 5-day hike before they get their drivers license! This year, his daughter Rylee steps up to the challenge—and she's not backing down. Matter of fact she ante’d up the challenge!
Together, father daughter will attempt to paddle 193 miles from Falls Dam in Raleigh NC to New Bern NC without stopping—no campsites, no sleep, just straight grit and determination. We anticipate 48 hours on the river
In past years, we’ve welcomed others to join the journey.
But due to the complexity and real dangers of night paddling, this year we’re asking you to cheer us on—from dry land and support in the most meaningful way. We call it Heroes helping Heroes and that’s YOU!!!
***Dates of this event may shift due to water height/conditions on the river
WHY WE PADDLE
This isn’t just about endurance.
It’s about resilience—the same kind we see in our First Responders.
Paddling for Pennies raises funds to support First Responders and Military personnel experiencing crisis, trauma, or hardship. Your donations fuel:
Peer support programs like
The Eddyline Paddle -Weekend kayak trips for those struggling with stress injury
Project Campfire
Emergency assistance for those facing unexpected life challenges
Every mile we paddle is for someone who’s paddling through something, too.
LIVE TRACKING begins July 24
DONATIONS open now to support First Responders in crisis
Help us turn pain into purpose—one mile, one penny at a time.
Follow the journey. Feel the burn. Fuel the mission.
